Colossians 3:23-24

This Bible verse is a powerful reminder that our work, no matter how mundane it may seem, is ultimately done for God. As human beings we are very predictable ; we want to find shortcuts and ways to do our jobs quicker with less effort. Sometimes that works, but other times, it leads to us doing the job half-heartedly, which produces lacklustre results. The Bible tells us to do everything as unto the Lord. That means, in everything we do, we should put in the effort required to produce excellent results!

However, Proverbs 16:3 promises us that if we do this, then our plans will be established. This means that if we work diligently, the work we do will be established. Galatians 6:7 (ESV) says that whatever one sows, that he will also reap. So, if you work with diligence and excellence, you will produce such, and we are judged and commended by what we produce.

The book of Proverbs is full of fast-flowing gems of advice, and Proverbs 14:23 has some notable words. Yes, most times the Bible talks about spiritual things we do not see, and this verse may apply too. The work we do is not always noticed, but that is not why we should work. We should work to be seen by God, who sees everything, and in turn, we will please Him and find favour with our colleagues. Hard work brings a profit, and that profit can be financial, but other times that profit can be recognition.
