Michael Kors’ Spring Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection was a stunning tribute to Italian craftsmanship, celebrating over three decades of collaboration with the country's artisans. The collection, unveiled at The Shed, showcased Kors' deep appreciation for the meticulous workmanship, tailoring, and handwork that bring his designs to life. "For a designer, the greatest thing is to find partners who can bring your ideas to life, which is what Italy’s artisans have done for us for 35 years," Kors noted in his show’s presentation. The collection was a perfect blend of everyday elegance and unexpected textures, inspired by the rich cultural and visual landscapes of Italy.
Kors drew inspiration from the noirish cinematography of Netflix’s "Ripley," which added a darker, more rustic undertone to the typically sun-drenched Italian aesthetic. This influence was evident in the collection's muted palette and the juxtaposition of city and country styles. The show opened with a 1950s-style maillot paired with a high-slit skirt and a leather basket bag, setting the tone for a series of looks that oscillated between structured city wear and relaxed, vacation-ready outfits.
The "office siren" trend was brought to life through belted blazers, vests, office-ready Bermudas, and daring microshorts. Even the classic gray flannel suit received a modern twist, while circle skirts and belted sweaters offered a retro ’50s take on corporate style. Throughout the collection, Kors expertly balanced high and low, incorporating rustic elements like raffia trims on everything from ribbed knit tunics to lace dresses, without sacrificing his signature polish.
The collection also featured pieces designed for both work and leisure, such as sequin and lace party dresses with portrait necklines, coordinating bandeau and skirt sets, and off-the-shoulder dresses that exuded a "dolce vita" vibe. The attention to detail was impeccable, with raffia trims extending to bags, skirts, shoes, and bucket hats, amplifying the collection's vacation appeal.
As expected, the Michael Kors show attracted a star-studded front row, including Olivia Wilde, Mary J. Blige, Kerry Washington, and Lindsay Lohan. On the runway, supermodels like Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls, and Karen Elson made striking appearances. The show’s highlight was the runway debut of South Korean superstar Dahyun, a global brand ambassador for Kors, whose presence nearly broke Twitter.
Michael Kors’ Spring Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection masterfully combined Italian craftsmanship with modern elegance, offering a fresh take on corporate wear and vacation style alike. With its blend of high fashion and rustic elements, the collection captured the essence of timeless style and everyday luxury.
