Nelisa Mchunu turned heads at SA Fashion Week 2025, embracing a sultry, sophisticated look that perfectly blended her personal style with the event's chic vibe. Dressed in an all-black ensemble, Nelisa effortlessly commanded attention as she walked through the event, exuding confidence and elegance. Her outfit, while stylish and sexy, also reflected a practical approach to fashion, embodying her belief in balancing comfort with a striking aesthetic.
When asked whether she collaborated with any designers or stylists for the event, Nelisiwe revealed, “No, I didn’t. It was all me!” Her ability to curate a standout look independently speaks volumes about her eye for fashion and self-assured sense of style. Nelisa explained that comfort is key for her, and she knows exactly what works for her body. “I know what looks good on me and what doesn’t, so that’s where I start when it comes to comfort. The style depends on the mood I’m trying to give and the nature of the event.”
One of the standout pieces from her outfit was a sleek black blazer with structured shoulders—a piece that, as Mchunu shared, came with a little backstory. “The blazer I wore belongs (or better yet, belonged, lol) to my youngest sister. I had been wanting that blazer from her, and she left it at my place, so long story short, hehehe,” she laughed. That playful approach to fashion perfectly encapsulates Mchunu's ability to make high-fashion moments feel personal and authentic.
Her choice to go all-black for the event wasn't accidental either. “The theme was dark tones, so all black made sense to me because I really love black clothes,” Mchunu added. The all-black outfit not only adhered to the event's aesthetic but also allowed Mchunu to bring her signature elegance to SA Fashion Week.
When it comes to her fashion influences, Mchunu has a diverse and refined palette, listing several designers who are currently on her radar. “Thabo Makhetha, Fikile Sokhulu, Ntwana, William Harry de Beer, and Gert-Johan Coetzee,” she shared, giving a nod to local talent.
For Spring 2025, Nelisa is stepping out of her comfort zone when it comes to colour. “I’m really drawn to bold colours. I’m such a neutral colour girl, and I want to experiment with colour and cotton sateen fabric,” she revealed. It’s clear that Nelisa is ready to explore new sartorial territories, making her journey in fashion one to watch.
With a mix of personal pieces and trend-driven inspiration, Nelisa Mchunu’s SA Fashion Week 2025 look was nothing short of a fashion statement—bold, comfortable, and completely her own. Whether she’s pulling from her sister’s closet or crafting her own stylish looks, Nelisa proves that she’s a fashion force to be reckoned with.
