Our Favourite Looks from Emily in Paris Season 4 So Far

With a new season of Emily in Paris finally hitting our screens, our attention is consistently captured by Emily’s bold fashion choices (not that there isn’t enough drama to do that). Season 4 Part 1 of Emily in Paris did not disappoint. As the outspoken American workaholic that she is, Emily Cooper does not limit her fashion choices to dull colours and simple prints. Viewers love to hate Emily's adventurous styling decisions, but the truth is, many of us admire her confidence to express herself so boldly through her clothes.
Emily has definitely grown in character and fashion this season. We can see more of a French influence and maturity in her styling since she decided to stay in Paris and embrace the culture. Costume Designer for the Emily in Paris cast, Marylin Fitoussi, shares; “I think people will be surprised by this new vision of French fashion exhibited by Emily Cooper. It’s sexy, it’s malicious.” And we love it! Although Emily is the main character, some of her friends have impeccable style too. Let’s take a look at 7 of the best dressed moments in the show:

Look 1: Bold Monochrome

In this scene, the two best friends, Mindy and Emily are both in bold monochrome outfits. When I saw Mindy wearing this vintage blue Mugler dress from 1996, I knew that this would be my favourite look from the season. Emily’s lemon-yellow layers show off her bright personality. The statement piece of Emily’s look has to be her oversized yellow suede jacket from Possery that retails for R12 361 on their website. We know that Emily is an exceptional Luxury Marketer, but for a price point that high it seems unrealistic for her to be able to afford it. Costume Designer Marylin Fitoussi answers fan’s critique over the character’s payslips versus their fashion; “Many people say to me, ‘Emily cannot afford what she has in her closet.’ And I say, ‘Of course not, nobody can!’ But do you want to see her in a hoodie and jeans? Nobody wants to see that. It’s for the imagination to see these beautiful items created by brilliant people.”

Look 2: Monochrome Two Piece Suite

While taking a trip out of Paris, Emily wears a monochrome look again in the same cobalt blue shade as her best friend in Look 1. This two-piece suit pairs stunningly against the vibrant colours of Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny, and could easily be an outfit that every viewer would want to get their hands on. This colour is and will be hot for months to come. You might be wondering how Emily can always wear heels and walk everywhere, but like Marylin Fitoussi said; “that’s entertainment, baby!”

Camille is your typical Parisian girl-next-door. You can’t help but want to befriend her and learn a thing or two from her about design choices. In this scene, she is wearing a black mini skirt with stockings, Roger Vivier black leather boots and a gorgeous oversized Vaillant Studio brown suede jacket. She pairs her outfit with one of my personal favourite accessories, a brown distressed shoulder bag from Miu Miu - perfect for a walk through the town’s vintage markets.

Look 4: Fidan Novruzova Set With White Lace

Our eyes are on Camille again in Episode 3. Often in contrast to Emily, Camille chooses neutral tones for her colour palette throughout the show. In this scene she is wearing a black Fidan Novruzova set with white lace trimmings, knee-high socks with loafers and accessorised with a black Thom Brown black leather bag. In this scene, Camille comes home after getting some pastries from a local bakery. She is dressed for a full day of meetings in the most stylish modern French way possible. To complete this power look, Camille topped it off with a bold black liner on her eyes.

Look 5: My Fair Lady Inspiration

What is Emily in Paris without an extravagant gala? These events are the epitome of luxury in the city of love and we can always expect to see something interesting. This wide-striped down was the designer’s take on the famous Truman Capote'sCopote’s black and white ball in 1966. Lilly Collins, Marylin Fittoussi and the costume designer agreed on a black and white bodysuit with an attachable skirt, a tribute to Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. Altogether with the bold stripes, exaggerated hips and large hat, Emily looks like she walked straight out of a fashion magazine.

Look 6: Upstyling Basics

Emily is all layered up for an Autumn day in Paris. I love the way the wardrobe stylist played with texture and print to create an interesting silhouette. Emily is wearing a white button up shirt, keeping it professional. She accessorised it with a chequered printed tie and a white textured crop top that creates volume to tie the look together. This outfit is perfect to make your day-to-day meetings that much more stylish. If you learn anything from Emily, it’s to layer your outfits. She knows exactly how to upstyle basics.

Look 7: Kate Middleton Style

Although Mindy didn’t pick out this outfit for herself, no one can deny how gorgeous this dress looks on her. Nicolas (Mindy’s boyfriend) gifted her this modest pink dress to wear to the French Open. Emily calls it more “Kate Middleton” than Mindy’s usual style, but nonetheless “couture is couture”. This pastel dress with white trimmings is a vintage Balmain and Mindy pairs it with a Mach & Mach top handle bag and Mach & Mach heels.
