SCALO: A Decade at Cape Town Fashion Week with Safari-Inspired Collection

SCALO, the fashion brand led by designer Sello Medupe, marked its 10th year at Cape Town Fashion Week in 2024, showcasing a collection inspired by the safari aesthetic. Drawing on earthy tones and textures, the collection aimed to capture the untamed spirit of the wilderness while maintaining the brand's signature haute couture style.

The collection featured a mix of floral prints, knitted materials and fringe details that created a textured and layered look. The colour palette balanced delicate creams, stark whites and black, giving the designs a neutral yet striking look. Silhouettes ranged from flowing kaftans to coordinated two-piece sets and detailed dresses.

SCALO’s designs integrated elements of movement and texture with fringe details and the use of knitted fabrics and nature-inspired prints aligned with the safari theme.

The collection exuded a glamorous yet relaxed vibe. It was reminiscent of something a fabulous cast member of The Real Housewives franchise might wear while vacationing. Whether lounging at a luxurious resort or sipping cocktails on an expensive yacht, the breezy kaftans were begging to be taken out for a high-end travel experience in the sun.
